Abstract

Purpose: This study was to identify the relationship between health perception, health behavior and health status among the high school students.

Method: The subjects were collected by convenient sampling comprised of 1049 high school students. The instrument used in this study are the Health Perception Questionnaire developed by Ware(1979), the Health Behavior Scale developed by researcher, the Health Status Scale modified Cornell Medical Index by Nam, H. C. (1965).

Result: 1) General characteristics such as gender, religion, relationship with parent, family monthly income and major consultant were significant variables of health perception, health behavior and health status. 2) The relationship between health perception and health behavior had a positive correlation(r=.29, p<0.1). 3) The relationship between health behavior and health status had a negative correlation(r=-.02, p<0.5). 4) The relationship between health perception and health status had a positive correlation(r=.23, p<0.1).

Conclusion: This study revealed there was the relationship with health perception, health behavior and health status among the adolescents. This study also suggested the basic information and framework for planning, developing, and providing the school based health promotion education for the high school students.
